Borussia Dortmund Reaches Champions League Quarterfinals

Dortmund Defeats Chelsea in Second Leg

Ten Hag Praises Sancho's Performance

Borussia Dortmund has reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in three years after defeating Chelsea 2-1 in the second leg of their last-16 tie. Karim Adeyemi and Julian Brandt scored the goals for Dortmund, while Kai Havertz netted a consolation for Chelsea.

Dortmund went into the second leg with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg at Stamford Bridge. They started the game brightly and created several early chances, but Chelsea gradually grew into the contest and began to create chances of their own.

However, Dortmund took the lead against the run of play in the 32nd minute when Adeyemi raced onto a long ball and slotted it past Kepa Arrizabalaga. Chelsea responded well to going behind and equalised just six minutes later through Havertz.

The second half was a more even affair, but Dortmund always looked the more dangerous side. They got their winner in the 77th minute when Brandt curled a superb shot into the top corner.

Dortmund's victory is a major upset, as Chelsea were one of the favourites to win the competition. It is also a significant achievement for manager Edin Terzić, who has overseen a remarkable turnaround in Dortmund's fortunes since taking over in December.

After the match, Terzić praised his players for their performance and said that he was "very proud" of them. He also singled out Sancho for praise, saying that he had been "excellent" throughout the game.

Dortmund will now face Manchester City in the quarter-finals. The first leg will be played at the Etihad Stadium on April 11, with the second leg taking place at Signal Iduna Park on April 19.
